A woman from Witham has raised hundreds to support a young girl with cerebral palsy.

Leah O’Sullivan, 42, tackled two tough obstacle courses to help two-year-old Mila Douse, who has bilateral dystonic cerebral palsy.

Miss O’Sullivan took on the Nuclear Races Blast and Blackout Course earlier this month, which sees participants trying to run as many 5km laps as possible in two hours.

She said: “The run was tough, but it was for such a great cause.

“I hope the money the team and I have raised will make a real difference to Mila and her family.

“I want to thank everyone who has donated and turned up in support.

“Further donations are very welcome - every penny will help Mila flourish and reach her full potential.”

Miss O’Sullivan, who works as a credit controller at Scott Parnell in Witham, faced muddy obstacles and heights but completed the course in 6km with nine other team members from Braintree Sport and Health Club.

The £340 raised will now help buy equipment for Mila, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy following a complicated birth, which could help her learn how to sit, crawl and walk unaided.

The condition means she can not yet crawl, stand or walk and struggles to communicate.
