A LEISURE centre has been recognised for its accessibility for disabled people.
Witham Leisure Centre, managed by Fusion Lifestyle, has been formerly recognised by Changing Places for its compliant toilets for people unable to use standard access toilet facilities.
Witham Leisure Centre has an ongoing ambition to cater for as large percentage of the local population as possible.
Every week at the centre Sport for Confidence, a specialist company dedicated to the provision of physical activity programmes for people with and without learning disabilities, host people who would struggle to attend if toilet facilities were not available.
Alex Green, contract manager for Fusion Lifestyle, said: “This official recognition by Changing Places as a centre that caters for all walks of life is fantastic news.
"I hope the news will now encourage other leisure facilities across the county to become compliant. At Witham Leisure Centre, we have always offered accessible toilets but were not publicising the fact.
"I am now confident, through our recognition on the Changing Places website, that people with special needs will be able to find us and will be encouraged to try out the many other physical and social activities on offer here.”
