FAMILIES were lucky to have fun in the sun at an annual May Day celebration.
The bank holiday weekend was blessed with good weather and families from Witham were able to spend Sunday outside enjoying games.
The Witham Community Association at Spring Lodge Community Centre held the family fun day on May 1, where lots of children were entertained with games and stalls.
As well as enjoying ice creams in the sun in Powers Hall End, family attractions included a petting corner, go karts, games stalls, and a tombola.
There were also performances from the Essex Elite Cheer Academy based in Witham and the Funky Voices choir which practices at the Community Centre.
Caron Freeman, office administrator at the community centre, said: “We attracted well over 600 people and 100 people from the Funky Voices choir came to support us.
“We still had people here even after it had closed, we were really pleased with how it went and it was really well supported.
“All the staff gave up their time to help out.”
Money raised from the event will be used in-house to pay for new facilities for the community centre, which does not receive any government funding.
