Essex Fire and Rescue Service has welcomed two new hazmat units to its fleet.
The vehicles, located in Braintree and Rayleigh Weir stations, will each carry gas tight suits and the equipment needed to deal with hazardous materials.
This will enable crews in Essex to deal with incidents involving hazardous materials quickly and safely.
The units will be sent to incident scenes where there are dangerous chemicals and hazardous materials.
Divisional officer Greg Keys said: “These vehicles are a fantastic new resource to keep people in the county safer.
“These new vehicles will provide a more focused operational response to hazardous materials incidents across Essex.
“It is part of the service’s wider project to deliver a number of new appliances and capabilities, making the county a safer place.”
