A Mini was left in a pond after leaving the road during a traffic collision in Colne Road, Coggeshall.
At least two vehicles collided near Blackwells Farm Shop just before 3pm today.
Butcher Luke Smy witnessed the aftermath of the incident.
He said: "We have a little lake outside the shop and the whole front end of the car has gone into it.
"There was a little girl in the back so they were very lucky, I think she was a little bit shaken up but everyone seemed fine.
"It looks like someone has swerved, two cars have gone into the back of each other and another has come off the road and into the lake."
An ambulance service spokesman said an ambulance was on the scene in less than eight minutes and treated a woman with a foot injury and a child in a bit of shock.
The spokesman said neither was critically hurt or had to go to hospital and added that both were out of the vehicle before it went into the water.
