An urgent warning has been issued to dog owners in Essex after a greyhound was bitten by a snake.
The incident β believed to involve an adder β happened in long grass at Brook Country Park on the outskirts of Clacton.
The greyhound was treated by a local vet and survived.
Tendring Council dog warden Allen East said: βIt is the second report of this kind that I have received recently and it is all down to the hot weather which makes the snakes more active."
