A Witham lorry driver was just three days into a new job when he caused £1million damage after crashing into a bridge.
Witnesses recalled an “almighty bang” as Stephen Edmonds, 53, of Conrad Road, drove an HGV with two diggers into a bridge at the A12 in Kelvedon, causing the road to be closed for hours in both directions.
Edmonds has been given 10 penalty points on his licence, but was not given a driving ban.
