Jamie Miller has become the first Welsh artist in 15 years to score a number one single, according to the Official Charts Company.
The 29-year-old’s song Babydoll has topped the singles chart, making him the first Welsh artist since 2011 to earn the number one spot after Sian Evans’s feature on DJ Fresh’s Louder.
He also became the first solo male Welsh artist in more than four decades to top the singles chart after Shakin’ Stevens’s 1985 festive classic, Merry Christmas Everyone.
Miller told Official Charts: “I don’t even know what to say other than thank-you so much for getting me number one, this is the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life, I love you guys.”
The track was first released in August and has had a steady climb to the summit after he released a remixed version with Off Campus star Antonio Cipriano.
The song has since grown in popularity and gone viral online, with social media users joining in a Babydoll dance.

Miller launched his career nearly a decade ago, aged 19, after coming third on the sixth season of The Voice UK.Babydoll beat Tate McRae’s Housewife, which entered the charts at number two, while Olivia Rodrigo’s remixed version of Expectations with Chappell Roan jumped to number three.
The singles chart top five was completed by Ashe’s Stop The Wedding at number four followed by Sienna Spiro’s Great Expectation.
Meanwhile, the albums chart saw Irish band Fontaines DC score their second number one album with Dopamine Chamber.
The record marked the third biggest opening week for an album in 2026, following behind Harry Styles’s Kiss All The Time, Disco, Occasionally and Olivia Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love.
The album is also the fastest-selling Irish studio LP in 15 years since Snow Patrol’s 2011 Fallen Empires.
Rodrigo’s record charted at number two this week.
The album chart top five was completed by Michael Jackson’s The Essential at number three, Olivia Dean’s The Art Of Loving at number four, and Sienna Spiro’s Visitor at number five.
The charts also saw London-born singer Rachel Chinouriri claim her first top 10 with her sophomore LP, I think I spoke too soon.
