• Braintree Easter Heritage Hunt

Braintree District Museum and Braintree Council have collaborated to put together a free Braintree Easter Heritage Hunt.

The hunt will be running from Tuesday, April 3 until Saturday, April 14.

Maps are available to collect at the museum or download from braintree.gov.uk/easterheritagehunt

• Easter arts and crafts at Braintree Museum

Two weeks of Easter activities from 10.30am until 12 noon between Tuesday, April 3 and Friday, April 13.

Free with admission charge - £2 for children and free for under 5s. Booking is essential.

• Butterfly Trail at Cressing Temple Barns

Find the names of ten British butterflies and win an Easter prize.

Pick up your trail leaflet in the Visitor's Centre for £2 and when you're done, head back to collect your prize.

No booking required, just turn up.

Charity Easter Egg Hunt at the Old Pottery Kiln in Witham

The Charity Easter Egg Hunt, on Saturday, March 31, will take place from 1pm to 4pm, with entry costing just £2 per child.

Activities include face painting, name the bunny, tombola and arts and crafts, with candy floss and more available.

Money raised will help Havens Hospices.

• Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunt 2018 at Paycocke’s House and Garden in Coggeshall

To make sure you have loads of fun along the way, take a map and follow the clues to point you in the right direction, a delicious treat will be waiting for you at the end.

• Easter Day Out with Thomas at The East Anglian Railway Museum in Wakes Colne

Join Thomas the Tank Engine and friends, including the Fat Controller and Rusty and Dusty, the Sodor Station sweepers.

The event will open from 10am to 4.30pm from Friday, March 30 until Monday, April 2.

Priced at £14 for adults, £10 for children aged two to 15, or £44 for a family ticket which includes two adults and two children. Children under two go free.

• Birds of prey at Hedingham Castle in Castle Hedingham

On Monday, April 2 head down to the former Norman stronghold to see birds of prey in flight.

Put on by Coda Falconry, there will be two displays at the castle at 11.30am and 2pm.

There will be a chance to meet the birds in between the displays, with tours of the castle also available. Entry is £8.50 for adults, £7.50 for over-65s, 36 for under 18s and £25 for a family ticket.

The Empire Theatre in Halstead is showing two films for children

There will be a screening of Holes, starring Shia LaBeouf and Sigourney Weaver, today at 2.30pm with tickets £3 per person.

On Thursday, Hotel Transylvania 2 will be shown at 11am with free popcorn. The animated hit stars the voices of Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez.

• Daws Hall Nature Reserve, in Bures, is holding its Wild and Crafty Family Day

Event takes place on Wednesday, April 4 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

It will feature nature investigations, map reading, campfire building and conservation activities.

A second day is also scheduled for the following Wednesday, April 11, at the same times. Adults go free and children are £7.50 per child.

• Easter Mega Fun Day at Braintree Sport and Health Club

The sports hall will be taken over with a day of fun, including bouncy castles, activity units, slides, fun runs, assault courses, stage shows, interactive fun and a children’s entertainer.
