A piece of land which was once proposed as the site of 84 homes could become an extension of a town centre park.
Land at Gimsons, situated off Kings Chase, in Witham, had been proposed for the homes as part of Braintree Council ’s Local Development Framework (LDF).
But an LDF panel designated the area “visually important space” in April, and town councillors now hope the land can be used for recreation.
At a meeting last week, town councillors agreed to approach the owners of the land to ask whether they would be interested in selling or leasing it for public use.
