A mum whose son has epilepsy is organising a musical variety concert to promote a charity that raises awareness about the condition.

Vanessa Thomas, 47, of Orchid Avenue, Witham, is organising Let Us Entertain You, which takes place at Witham Public Hall on Friday.

She is hoping that the event will raise awareness of epilepsy, the condition that her 16-year-old son Marley suffers from.

Vanessa said: “Almost everyone involved is local to the Witham area and are regularly involved in local shows and concerts.

“Everyone is doing this completely voluntarily. There are lots of talented people taking part and I’m looking forward to bringing local people together for a good cause.”

Vanessa is keen to help Epilepsy Action, the charity that provides help to the 600,000 people with epilepsy in the UK, following her own experience.

She said: “I found out about Epilepsy Action on Facebook. It’s a way that parents can talk to each other and it makes you feel like you are not alone with what you are going through."

Let Us Entertain You takes place on Friday at Witham Public Hall, in Collingwood Road, starting at 7pm.

Tickets are priced between £6 and £10, with a reduction for concessions. Visit withampublichall.co.uk or call 0845 017 8717.

All proceeds will go to Epilepsy Action. For information about the charity, visit www.epilepsy.org.uk
