Flood warnings and alerts have been issued for three rivers in the area.
The Environment Agency has given a flood warning for the River Brain from Black Notley to Witham.
It said river levels are likely to remain high although no significant rainfall is forecast for the next 12 hours.
The agency has also issued a flood alert for the Rivers Pant and Blackwater from Great Bardfield to Langford, including Braintree.
River levels are likely to rise slowly .
