Children at a primary school in Braintree have raised almost £1,000 for an African charity.
The 60 year 5 pupils at Notley Green Primary in Great Notley have raised money for Send a Cow, a charity based in the UK that helps communities in rural Africa.
Teachers Toni Beeson and Carla Hodgkins said the idea came after the children studied the topic ‘The Lion King’ - which included studying Africa - and chose a charity to fundraise for.
She said the children planned, organised and ran a coffee morning and invited along their parents.
Miss Beeson added: “They also did a sponsored ‘moovathon’ where they had to dance non-stop for up to an hour.”
