A police car which patrols the A12
Drivers faced tailbacks as the A12 Colchester bound carriageway was closed after a deer was hit.
Police were called at about 8.40 this morning to junction 21 near Witham and by the time officers got there the animal was badly injured.
They had called a firearms officer to the incident but the deer died before they arrived.
The carriageway re-opened at 9.15am.
