Coppers on Choppers will be raising cash for a heart charity.
A team of police officers and mechanics, including Witham-based inspector Mick Pitcher and Sgt Richard Montgomery, will be competing in the London to Brighton cycle ride on June 19.
And their steeds will be restored 1970s Raleigh Choppers.
Mr Pitcher, neighbourhood inspector for Halstead and Witham, said: "The Chopper is a true British icon.
“After one of our friends suffered a heart attack, we decided we wanted to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. It’s a great cause."
The team has already raised £920 against a target of £2,000.
