A young air cadet hanged himself while playing a schoolyard choking game in his bathroom.

Harry Robinson, 13, died after strangling himself from a shower rail with his dressing gown cord.

His 11-year-old brother, Charlie, cut the belt to let Harry down.

Harry was taken from his home in Gamble’s Green, Terling, to Broomfield Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The postmortem recorded death by hanging.

The police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and the coroner, Mrs Caroline Beasley-Murray said there was no reason to suspect Harry wanted to kill himself.

She said: “I am satisfied that Harry’s death occured as a result of a tragic accident.

“There is sufficient evidence to say that Harry was experimenting with the choking game and it went terribly wrong.”

“There is clearly concern nationwide about this practice.

“To say that children are dicing with death is an understatement.”
