A inspirational Witham mum who saved the life of her own baby has won a national award for courage.
Not only did Emma D’Souza resuscitate her baby boy Blake, but she was also a tower of strength for her family during tough times last year.
Emma was nominated for The Big Hearts Awards by her friends Abigail Britten, who lives in Haverhill, and Tracey Radley, who lives in Wivenhoe.
Emma, 27, said: “Seeing the letter Abigail and Tracey wrote made me think oh gosh.
“It’s not until I saw it all written down that I realised how much I’d been through.
“When Blake was in intensive care it was a very scary time and we didn’t quite know what was going.”
Emma was presented with her Mum of Courage award on January 13 at an afternoon tea party hosted by the Mother and Baby magazine and the charity Bliss for premature babies at London’s Park Lane Hilton Hotel.
