CONTRACTS have been signed to provide services at a new hospital.
Health trust NHS Mid Essex and Braintree Clinical Services Ltd formally signed the paperwork regarding Braintree Community Hospital, which is due to open within the next few months.
Dr Bryan Spencer, a GP who has been involved in the project, said: “Local GPs are looking forward to their patients having access to a full range of health services under one roof, saving them time and extra journeys.
"In some cases patients will be able to see a consultant and have tests and treatment in the same day.”
Sheila Bremner, chief executive of NHS Mid Essex, said they can look forward to high quality NHS services and an "unprecedented" level of individual care and attention when the hospital opens this Spring.
"We have selected the best service providers from the local NHS and the independent sector to provide care from the new state-of-the-art community hospital in Braintree," she said.
Braintree Clinical Services Ltd brings together five companies to provide the services: Central Essex Community Services, InterHealth Canada, Prime Diagnostics Limited, Specialist Medical Imaging Ltd and Ashlyns Organics Ltd.
