X Factor front-runner Olly Murs has the backing of his former employers as his star continues to rise.

Olly, 25, has found fame on the hit ITV series and was selected to go through on Sunday to the final 24 - the last stage before the live shows.

Viewers found out at the weekend that the Witham resident will be mentored by Simon Cowell should he progress to the final stage.

The next instalment for viewers will be seeing Olly perform at one of Cowell’s palatial properties abroad.

He is one of six singers in the over 25s category, which will be whittled down to three.

Robyn Holmes, Managing Director of recruitment specialists Prime Appointments, said her former employee has been “superb”.

Olly worked for Prime Appointments in Newland Street, Witham, for about four years before resigning recently.

He has left finding the right career for others behind to concentrate on his own.

“Superstitious (the Stevie Wonder hit Olly performed when first on TV) was great,” Mrs Holmes said.

“We wish him all the luck in the world. He has sung for us in the past , at Christmas parties, and we always thought what a talented singer he was.”

Mrs Holmes said Olly could be seen with headphones in and would, on occasions, wander around the office singing.

“He is quite natural and has a lovely personality. He has never had singing lessons and if he gets to the next stage he will get even better.

“Everyone is rooting for him and he has popped into the office so we know he is really excited.”

Olly, of Carraways, Witham, impressed the judges with Elton John’s Your Song.
