Parish Council

Litter bin: The parish council welcomed the installation of a dog litter bin at Worlds End Lane.

The council has also asked the Braintree dog warden to increase his patrols around the village.

Vacancy: There is still a vacancy on the parish council.

A12 resurfacing: The parish council was advised by the Highways Agency that a major maintenance scheme will be carried out on the A12 at Kelvedon.

Until December 19, construction work will largely be confined to night-time working. Works will shut down between December 19 and January 5, although traffic management restrictions (narrow lanes and 50mph speed limit) will remain.

Work will restart on January 5, with major traffic management systems implemented for 24-hour working to complete construction within the shortest time, with two lanes available in peak period.

Subject to the weather, the work is due to be completed by March.

Policing: The next neighbourhood action panel meeting will be on January 14, at 7pm at Silver End village hall, to prioritise issues in the area.

Next meeting: Tuesday, at 7.30pm, in the council offices in the community centre.

Garden Club

On the last Tuesday in December, club members will end their year’s activities with a meal in The Institute, Kelvedon.

All 60 tickets have been sold.

Thanks to Avril Edge and Fiona Barkham, who organise the food chain, Brian and Lesley Peacock, who care for the music and table laying, and Pat Harbott, who provides the flower centres for the tables.

The club’s annual meeting will be on February 3, while on March 3 there will be a talk by Andrew Tokely on Something Old, Something New.
