Members borrowed the HPCA minibus for a trip to Mersea Island vineyard.
Roger Barber and his wife gave an informative and enjoyable tour of the vineyard, describing how they took on the venture with a desire for doing something different in their 50s.
Members were treated to a tasting of the wines, followed by supper, accompanied by the tale of a Bacchanalian visiting badger.
Many thanks to Judy Lea for organising the outing, and to Kay Coombes for driving the minibus.
At the Septemberfest, members enjoyed a traditional German supper with appropriate food and drink.
On October 8, the club’s 31st annual meeting takes place in the village hall.
Hopefully, a new committee member will be elected to replace Judy Lea, who is standing down after many years’ service.
