Essex entrepreneurs charged with further sexual offences

Two men have been charged with further sexual offences following an investigation into human trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The investigation, led by Essex Police's Serious Crime Directorate, continues after the initial arrests of local entrepreneurs Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 57, and his husband Scott Drewitt-Barlow, 32.

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow now faces an additional 15 charges, which include two offences of sexual activity with a child and two counts of paying for sexual services of a child.

He also faces five counts of rape, four counts of sexual assault, along with charges of causing an individual to engage in sexual activity without consent and causing or inciting sexual activity.

Meanwhile, Scott Drewitt-Barlow is now charged with two additional counts of rape and one count of causing or inciting sexual activity.

The pair, from Southwood Chase, Danbury, have been remanded in custody.

They are due to appear next at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, June 22.

Originally, According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Barrie Drewitt-Barlow had been charged with three counts of sexual assault on a male, four counts of rape of a man 16 or over, and two counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

His partner Scott had been charged with one count of sexual assault on a male, one count of rape of a man 16 or over, and two counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

As part of the investigation their Danbury home was raided as well as the stadium of Maldon and Tiptree FC and a pub in Braintree.

Essex Police has urged anyone with information related to the investigation to contact them through their Major Incident Public Portal or their incident room.

The investigation remains ongoing.
