WITHAM MP Priti Patel attended the Silver End Garden Village centenary celebrations, marking 100 years of the village's history.

Ms Patel joined families, residents and organisations at the celebration event, which featured the unveiling of a torii arch and a specially created centenary cake.

A range of activities were held to highlight the village’s past, present and future.

The event was made possible through the efforts of Silver End Parish Council, alongside volunteers, schools and the church.

Ms Patel said: "It was a privilege to join the Silver End Garden Village centenary celebrations and to see so many members of the community come together to mark this very special occasion.

"Silver End is a unique and historic village with a strong community spirit and a rich heritage that was proudly on display throughout the evening, particularly with the unveiling of the new torii arch.

"From the fantastic centenary cake to the wonderful turnout of residents, families and local groups, it was a truly fitting celebration of 100 years of history.

"I would like to thank Silver End Parish Council, as well as all the volunteers, schools and the church, for their hard work in making this such a memorable event.

"Silver End has a remarkable story and continues to be a wonderful example of community spirit in action."
