WITHAM MP Priti Patel has donated to the mayor's chosen charity to help people with Alzheimer's.

Priti Patel handed over £200 for the Alzheimer's Society to the Mayor of Witham, councillor Paul Heath, during a visit to Witham Town Hall.

The Witham Mayoral Charity is selected by the town's mayor each year to raise money and awareness for their chosen organisation.

Priti said: "I am delighted to donate to the Witham Mayoral Charity, this year charity of choice being The Alzheimer’s Society.

"The Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support for people suffering from this awful disease, as well as practical advice for families with loved ones affected by dementia.

"Dementia remains a devastating condition that affects so many people, and this donation will help support families and contribute to better treatments in the search for a cure."

Councillor Paul Heath said: "It was great to catch up with Priti and be able to update her on the progress of the appeal thank her for the ongoing support, encouragement and kind personal donation.

"I look forward to working with her in aid of this important cause into the future."

The Alzheimer’s Society is a UK charity focused on supporting people affected by dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

It offers information, advice and practical help to individuals and families, while campaigning for better care and more research funding.

The charity works to improve treatments, raise awareness, reduce stigma and drive progress towards a cure.
