A number of residential streets across Halstead and Braintree are set to be affected by the new mansion tax following the 2025 budget release.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves presented her budget to parliament earlier today.

She confirmed that a version of the much-speculated 'mansion tax' will be introduced, placing a new charge on high-value properties.

Under the plans, owners of properties valued at over £2million will soon begin paying a regular annual charge, which will be added to their existing council tax bill.

Beginning in April 2028, this will set homeowners back at least an extra £2,500, and £7,500 at most.

Streets across Essex will be affected, including some homeowners in Halstead and Braintree.

We have compiled a list of street names across both towns where homes valued at £2million or more stand.
