MP PRITI Patel visited a school in Witham to meet the newly-appointed headteacher.

Lucie Levett is the new headteacher at Howbridge Church of England Junior School, and spoke to Ms Patel about the school's engagement, new ethos and celebration of community values.

Ms Patel said: "It was a pleasure to visit Howbridge Church of England Junior School and to welcome Ms Levett to her new role as headteacher.

"Schools play a vital part in shaping the aspirations and confidence of our young people, and it is inspiring to see the strong sense of community and ambition at Howbridge.

"I strive to make sure my constituents have access to the best schools they can, schools that promote strong values and give students the genuine skills they need for the future."

The visit is part of Ms Patel’s ongoing work with schools across her constituency to promote political education, reading, and community engagement.

Discussions also included the school's commitment to literacy and future collaboration through initiatives such as Get Witham Reading, which celebrates reading across primary and secondary schools each year.
