The MP for Witham has visited a freight company to discuss the challenges facing the sector.

Priti Patel visited Unisystems Freight UK to meet with staff and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the logistics and freight industry.

Unisystems Freight UK is a provider of freight forwarding and logistics services, playing a role in connecting UK businesses with international markets.

During her visit, Ms Patel toured the company’s facilities, spoke with employees about their work, and heard about the pressures facing the sector, including rising operational costs, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory challenges.

Ms Patel praised the company’s contribution to the local economy and its role in keeping supply chains moving.

She said: "The logistics and freight sector is vital to our economy, ensuring goods reach businesses and consumers efficiently.

"Companies like Unisystems Freight UK, which are represented so strongly in Essex, exemplify the hard work and resilience that drive British industry forward.

"Thanks to this clueless Labour government, freight and logistics businesses are facing significant challenges, from increased business costs to burdensome regulations.

"It is essential that the government listens to this industry and works with businesses to ensure they have the proper support in place."
