An air ambulance was called to an accident involving a motorbike and a car near Braintree.
A man was airlifted to hospital by helicopter following the incident on Wednesday.
The East of England Ambulance Service was called to the A120 Coggeshall Road, heading towards Colchester, at 7.41am.
A spokesman said: “An ambulance and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
“One patient, an adult male, was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for further care.”
