POLICE arrested a burglary suspect just ten minutes after reports of a raid at a property in Braintree town centre.
Officers were called to a business premises on Braintree High Street at about 11.40pm on Tuesday (July 9) after a member of the public reported that a man had used a brick to smash his way into the property.
PC Simon Ball and Sgt Thomas Baskeyfield quickly arrived at the scene and detained a man after a short foot chase.
Vape products and mobile phones worth a four-figure sum were seized.
Sgt Baskeyfield said: “We understand the impact that business crime has on their owners, customers and the local communities they serve.
“My officers attended, made a significant arrest and recovered suspected stolen property soon after the initial call was placed.”
A man has since been charged with burglary and is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 6.
