A CARE home marked 60 years of serving the community through a special event.

Staff at Millard House care home in Braintree set up a traditional fete to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Despite being an annual event, this year was more significant due to it marking the big milestone.

With 11 different stalls set up, people had plenty of options for fun such as hook a duck, tin can alley and many more traditional games.

Residents of the care home enjoyed the day alongside visitors who stopped by to visit.

Beyond the traditional games, staff also put together a vibrant Hawaiian dance, with a magician showing off his best tricks.

Despite the weather occasionally spoiling the show, the community remained in good spirit and managed to make £530 for the resident’s fund.

The money raised will be put towards organising activities and trips for the residents, keeping them occupied throughout the summer period.

A spokesman said: "As the day ended, the smiles on the faces of the residents and visitors alike were a clear indication of the event's success.

"The annual summer fete at Millard House once again proved to be a highlight of the year, a day filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories."
