A man has been arrested following a serious assault in an Essex village. 

Officers at Essex Police were called to reports of an assault in Filch Green, Dunmow, at about 6.40pm on Saturday. 

The assault had left the victim with injuries to his face, police have confirmed. 

An Essex Police spokesman said: “The suspect left the scene and our officers began searching for him with support from our police dogs and handlers. 

“About an hour after we were called to this incident, a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.” 

The 41-year-old man remains in custody while the police enquiries continue.
