PLANS to implement new speeding restrictions on various roads across a Braintree estate have been revealed.
A proposed traffic regulation order from Essex County Council has highlighted that there could be a new speeding restriction on a Braintree estate developed by Mulberry Homes.
If the order is successful with its consultation, there will be a 20mph speed zone placed in Marriott Way, Artis Close, and Goodale.
The restriction will run on Marriott Way from a 17.5 metre point from its junction with Badger Mount and for the entire length of the rest of the road.
Artis Close and Goodale could also have this implemented for the entire length of the roads.
There is already a road narrowing traffic calming measure on Marriott Way, and there is a ramp on Marriott Way and Artis Close.
According to a document within the traffic regulation order, this 20mph zone order is “to reduce vehicular speeds and improve the pedestrian environment.”
It also said: “It is Essex County Council's policy that new housing estate roads are constructed to ensure, as far as is possible, that vehicle speeds are 24mph or below.
“This is done via the introduction of a 20mph zone and a variety of physical features.”
The consultation closes on May 3.
