A FOOTBALL fan from Witham has been charged by the police after a crunch Championship match between East Anglian rivals.

Tim Brown, 65, of Vane Court, was charged with obstructing a police officer and being drunk and disorderly.

He has been bailed and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 15.

It comes after 11 people were arrested by Norfolk Police in connection to the Norwich City vs Ipswich Town match last Saturday at Carrow Road.

Numerous arrests were made before, during and after the game.

Alleged offences included criminal damage, throwing a missile, anti-social behaviour and letting off a smoke device.

A 25-year-old Suffolk man, Zac Lapworth, of The Green in Beyton, was charged with throwing a missile in a football ground.

Two men from Norfolk, Oliver Liddle, 26, of Aberdare Court in Norwich, and Nathan Moore, 33, of Fen Way in Hoveton, were both charged with possession of a pyrotechnic at a sporting event.

The match saw Norwich take the win, thanks to Marcelino Núñez's 39th minute goal.
