A MAJOR road was temporarily closed to protect users' safety following an incident.
On March 21, police assisted Highways England with road closures in a bid to protect road users on the A12 between J22 (Witham North) and J23 (Kelvedon).
It was expected there would be long delays.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Officers were called shortly after 4:30pm on March 21 following reports of an object hanging from a bridge, close to the Witham junction.
"The road was temporarily closed whilst the object was removed to protect road users."
National Highways has been approached for comment.
