DOG owners will not face a ban on letting their pets run free in a popular green space.
Kelvedon Parish Council held its monthly meeting this week.
There were proposals to put up new signs at the entrances to Brockwell Meadows, saying all dogs must be on leads.
However, it has now been confirmed the restriction will not be introduced.
Council leader Matt Burgess said: “There are no new restrictions.
“The parish council will maintain a register of incidents involving dogs.
“Dog owners should be acting responsibly and ensuring dogs are under control in all open spaces.”
Some villagers, including Debbie Chisholm, had claimed the restrictions would be detrimental to dog walkers.
She said: “It’s great they’re thinking of the environment, but it feels like it’s at the expense of local people’s mental health and being able to exercise our dogs properly."
