TWO people have been arrested and cannabis has been seized during raids in Witham.

Essex Police say they carried out early morning warrants on February 24, at addresses in the town.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of the production of cannabis and a 24-year-old man on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug.

Both have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Insp Phil Jackson, from the Braintree and Uttlesford community policing team, said: “In the last 12 months the Braintree and Uttlesford community policing team has conducted more than 16 intelligence-led drugs warrants, arrested more than 40 people, and secured 27 charges.

“These warrants have included the seizure of more than £40,000 as well as quantities of drugs.

“We have been able to carry out this action thanks to information from the public, which is vital to help us keep our communities safe.

“Community intelligence is often the missing piece of the puzzle so please report any information, even if it appears to be minor, so we know what’s happening where you live."
