A MAN has died following a single-vehicle collision in the early hours of the morning.

It has been confirmed an 80-year-old man died at the scene at Marks Farm roundabout in Braintree following a crash.

His family have been informed and are now receiving support from officers.

Police were called at about 3.45am this morning following reports of the collision after a senior paramedic spotted the crash whilst en route to another incident this morning.

The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed "one ambulance, one ambulance officer vehicle and three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles were sent to Coggeshall Road (B1256) at Braintree."

The roundabout was closed throughout the morning, causing significant delays across Braintree and beyond.

Road users reported being stuck in hours of queues during their morning commute.

The A120 and the A131 were fully reopened just before 10am and traffic has since returned to normal.

Essex Police is now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the crash.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We’d like to thank motorists for their patience.

“Detectives in our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for the public’s help as part of this investigation.
