A SCOUT group has enjoyed the experience of a lifetime and travelled to the snowy base of a range of European mountains.
The 1st Silver End Scouts embarked on a trip to Zakopane, a town which sits at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, in Poland, for a five-day trip.
During half-term, the group spent their time in southern Poland, undertaking ten hours of ski lessons, visiting the water park Terma Bania’s thermal pool, and event went tobogganing.
A spokesman for the 1st Silver End Scouts said the trip was a great success.
They said:” All the Scouts progressed really well, and by the end of the week all were coming down the hills unaided and could twist, turn and stop.
“As well as all the snow sports there were a number of educational activities that the 11 girls and five boys got to experience.
"These included learning about highland life and making the traditional smoked cheese, made of salted sheep milk, called Oszczypek.
“One of the girls who took part, said she didn’t want to leave Poland as she had such an amazing time and everyone was so friendly, but was looking forward to sleeping in their own bed.”
The 1st Silver End Scouts group is open to girls and boys aged 10 to 14.
