A WOMAN had to be transported to hospital following a serious car crash on a village road near Witham.
Paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service were called to Maldon Road, in Hatfield, at 12.37pm on Friday.
One ambulance and two vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to the scene.
One patient, an adult woman, was transported to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
The driver of the other car, meanwhile, also an adult woman, sustained minor injuries and was discharged on scene.
As a result of the incident, the road was closed between Wickham Bishops Road and Ulting Road, with traffic coming to a halt and drivers having to explore alternative routes.
