POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an attack which left a woman injured.

Essex Police received reports of an assault which took place in a layby along the A120 between Coggeshall and Marks Tey, close to Salmons Lane, at about 8.30pm on August 3.

The female victim sustained minor injuries and was assisted by members of the public.

A 31-year-old man from South Woodham Ferrers was arrested on suspicion of common assault.

Police say he has since been released with bail conditions whilst enquiries continue.

A spokesman for the force added: "We are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this incident, particularly the members of the public who assisted to contact us.

"If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us."
