A MAN has been arrested following a serious assault in Braintree where a man sustained stab wounds.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of an assault in Market Place at about 9pm last night.

A victim was found with serious injuries to their hand and was taken to hospital.

A 19-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.

Essex Police is investigating the incident and is asking for anyone who saw anything, to get in touch.

In an appeal for information, a spokesman for Essex Police said: “This afternoon, officers arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm with intent. He remains in custody.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and we are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault to contact us.
