A LOCK-UP store in Great Dunmow sold for more than double the price guide at auction after a bidding war erupted.
The Studio in Buckingham Court, The Close, south of the town centre, went under the hammer for £23,500 at Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.
Auctioneer Paul Bridgeman said: “We had strong pre-sale interest in this property which translated into sustained bidding which saw the sale price more than double the freehold guide.
“We considered that this ground floor property with two rooms may offer potential for alternative uses, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable, and our bidders agreed.
“Although we don’t know the buyer’s intentions, it will be fascinating to find out what happens to this interesting building.”
The Close is just off Chelmsford Road, about half a mile north of the junction with the A120.
