A POPULAR street market is back in full swing and drawing in crowds once again.

Braintree’s second full market of the season saw extra traders was well-received by visitors.

The street market returned in March with over 30 traders, including local food and drink producers, street food, handmade items, gifts and homeware.

Its second event was held last weekend.

At the market, visitors will find some long-standing popular monthly traders back again for 2023, trading fabrics, honey, sausages, cheese, beigels, handmade homewares and more.

All this is alongside the regular traditional weekly market traders.

Braintree Council is always looking for new and young entrepreneurs and traders to join the street market to promote their small business and reach a new audience.

The council can provide support to new traders with their pop-up stalls.

Small market stalls are available to hire, with starting rates of just £11 per event.

A Braintree Council spokesman said: “We hosted our second street market of the year over the weekend with stall-holders showcasing and selling handmade gifts and homeware as well as tasty treats and delicious street food.

“Our traditional stall-holders were supporting shoppers too with a selection of fresh groceries and household goods.

“We were lucky with the weather and it was great seeing so many people out and about shopping and supporting our local traders and businesses.”

The market runs from 9am to 5.30pm in Braintree town centre from Bank Street to the High Street and Great Square.

It is on the last Saturday of every month and will return on Saturday, May 27.
