A PERSONAL trainer who made sexually suggestive remarks to a client has been handed a restraining order.

Jordan Smith, 24, was found to have harassed the gym goer between late February and April last year.

Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard he made “inappropriate and sexually suggestive” comments to the woman while supervising her personal training sessions in Witham.

He also texted her after one session and emailed her from his private account in relation to gym business.

The Gazette understands Smith was an employee at Anytime Fitness in Newland Street, Witham when the offences took place.

More recently it is understood he worked at Anytime Fitness’ Stanway branch before he left the company last year.

A spokesman for the gym brand said: “Jordan Smith is no longer an Anytime Fitness employee and hasn’t worked in any Anytime Fitness gym since 2022.

“In addition, our Colchester franchise has been under new ownership since February 2023.”

Smith, of Brendon Court, Tiptree, denied an offence of harassment when he appeared before magistrates this month but was found guilty of it.

A restraining order was made banning the defendant from directly or indirectly contacting his victim until April next year.

Magistrates also decided to impose a community order against Smith during the court sentencing.

The 24-year-old must undertake 180 hours of unpaid work within the next twelve months and 40 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement.

The personal trainer must also pay costs of £620 and a victim surcharge of £95.

He must report to the Probation Service which will oversee his community order until its expiry in October next year.
