A PLAYFUL pup who has been improving his confidence is in search of a new home.

One-year-old cane corso George is waiting at the Danaher Animal Shelter, in Wethersfield, for a new owner who will give him love and understanding.

A spokesman said: “George came into our care a very nervous and shut-down boy, but he has turned such a corner with the staff and has grown in confidence massively.

“It was apparent when George came in he was under-socialised which meant he lacked confidence around people and dogs, but now George can make human friends and he even has some doggy pals.

“We are so proud of how far he has come and the staff cannot wait to find him a new home where he can continue learning and gaining some life experiences.”

They continued: “We are looking for breed-specific experience to ensure you know what you are getting with George and that he will be in the right hands.

"It’s really crucial that cane corsos are socialised, so we are hoping he finds a new owner who is passionate about helping him develop and learn and continue the training we have begun.

“George is a sensitive boy, but full of character. He has the looks and charm, and we all love him dearly.

“There is never a dull moment with George, especially when he decides to flop on the floor and demand belly rubs.

“In the right home we know he will thrive and be a dream companion for someone.

“George did come from a home, so we expect the normal everyday environment to be familiar to him.

"He has been with us for some time now, so the transition from kennels back to a home might mean he needs time to adjust back into a house.”
