Works to renew the traffic signal equipment along a main road are set to start.
Railway Street, in Braintree, will see lane restrictions and temporary lights in place throughout the works which will take about four weeks to complete.
Traffic signals at two locations along Railway Street are set for replacement.
Essex Highways says its aim is to improve the signals before they become unreliable and fail to work properly, replacing the aging poles and equipment and upgrading the signals using extra low voltage equipment, which will also help to reduce its carbon footprint.
Work is due to start at the junction of B1256 Railway Street, B1256 South Street, Rose Hill and Station Approach on Monday, March 13.
The work will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 5am to limit the impact on residents and businesses.
During working hours, lane closures will be required with temporary multi-way signals to manage traffic.
During the day, temporary lights will replace existing traffic signals.
Work will also be taking place at the junction of B1256 Railway Street and Manor Street from Monday, March 13, for approximately one week.
These works will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 10am and 3pm with temporary two-way signals in place.
