An author has released a new book to give teens and adults nuggets of LGBTQ+ information.

Braintree author Victoria Barron, 39, is celebrating the publishing of her first 'queer' book.

Perfectly Queer is an illustrated book for teens and beyond, including identity terms and definitions, pride flags, advice and support, and even some activity pages to divide the contents.

Although Victoria mainly writes about children's art and fiction, after posting some well-received LGBTQ+ infographics online, she was approached by the editorial director at Jessica Kingsley Publishers about the possibility of creating an easy-to-understand educational book in a similar style.

She said: "I've worked as a freelance illustrator for many years, and had never really considered branching into non-fiction, especially since most of my professional and personal projects center around children's art and fiction.

"I receive some lovely messages from people who've connected to my works, informing me how they finally felt seen and heard or were just pleased to broaden their understanding.

"It was great to work with a publisher who lends a platform to queer creators and queer voices."
