TIME is running out for applicants to take on the lease of a new multi-use community centre.
Braintree Council has issued a final call for those wishing to take on the lease of the proposed site in Witham.
The centre will be built on land next to Haygreen Road, just behind the Aldi supermarket off Hatfield Road.
If plans move forward as expected, building work will finish by the end of 2024.
A spokesman for Braintree Council said: “We are interested in hearing from voluntary or community groups, social enterprises, parish councils or charities interested in taking on the lease and operation of a new community centre which is in the pipeline for Witham.
“Organisations interested in leasing and operating the community centre are being invited to register their interest.
“The centre's plans include a mixed-use hall, kitchen, bar area and changing rooms to serve sports players using the adjacent football pitch.
“Interested parties must have experience of managing community services and ensure that they are accessible to all sections of the community.”
Organisations should email strategic.investment@braintree.gov.uk to register their interest as soon as possible.
The deadline is on Friday, March 3, at 12noon.
