AN animal shelter has made a fresh appeal as staff push to find forever homes for two of their 'long stay' pets.

Five-year-old mastiff Gloria and three-year-old mastiff cross Zeus have been at Danaher Animal Home, in Wethersfield, for months and are still in search of a new home.

A spokesman said: “Gloria is now looking for the perfect home, where she can build her confidence away from kennel life.

“Gloria is full of energy and loves countryside walks and having a good sniff of her surroundings while she is exploring.

“When she is calm and settled, she walks well on a harness and Haiti lead by your side.

“Once she knows you, she will give you the biggest cuddle every day.

“Gloria would benefit from a home that has a good understanding about her breed and previous experience with large breeds similar to her like mastiffs.

The spokesman continued: “Zeus came into our care through no fault of his own.

“He loves playing fetch with a tennis ball and totally enjoys that playtime.

“Zeus is looking for an adult home. Because of his size he is also strong on the lead, we find he relaxes in quiet surroundings where he enjoys his walks and sniffing, but please bear in mind strength on the lead when registering your interest.

“We are specifically looking for someone with large breed experience to ensure new owners are comfortable managing him.

“He is an active and very intelligent dog who will need plenty of exercise outside of the home as well as enrichment at home.

“If you love big mastiff breeds would certainly fall in love with either of them.”
