A COMMUNITY hub is celebrating after getting a huge grant to help towards it work supporting the community.

The Witham Hub has been awarded £2,000 by London-based industrial developer Chancerygate and construction contractor Harmonix Construction.

The two companies are currently working together to deliver 58,000 sq ft Freebournes Park on Freebournes Road Industrial Estate.

Since its official launch in May 2019, volunteers of the hub have been working towards its objectives of preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society.

The money will enable the volunteers to provide more food and supermarket items for vulnerable people within the community who are struggling over the Christmas period.

The Witham Community Hub is located less than a mile from the Freebournes Park development at The Grove Shopping Centre.

Commenting on the donation, chair of the Witham Community Hub Tina Townsend said: “We were delighted when we were offered this great donation, which will help us over the Christmas period to provide food for those in need.”

Chancerygate development manager Matthew Young said: “Witham Community Hub is a brilliant initiative which is invested in developing the capacity and skills of individuals living within the community who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

“It is a pleasure to support the hub on its plans to put the donation towards providing food for vulnerable people over the Christmas period.”
